Pray for Church in Zimbabwe
Below, please find an appeal for prayer from Rev Richard Becher of Elmwood United Reformed Church in Birmingham
I am writing to everyone in my address book just to ask that we
can join together in prayer in the coming days for our friends in
Zimbabwe as the day for the general election draws closer. We are
linked with a church in Chinhoyi and I have spoken to their pastor,
Paul Neshangwe, this afternoon.
A miracle occurred in Zimbabwe this afternoon when a local leader of
the ruling Zanu PF party apologized to a church for threatening
their members.
Having threatened members not to go to the church and telling the
pastor that if he went he would return home without a vehicle the
leader of the local party then said "sorry" and asked the church
members to pray for him and his party.
It
confirms that the elections are accompanied by threats which put
church members under a lot of pressure but it was also like a
miracle when the Zanu PF leader apologized. There were a lot of
extra members at the church, in Shakleton, an outreach of the
Chinhoyi church, today and they could have been Zanu PF members
checking up on what was being said in prayers and sermon.
At Elmwood on Thursday we had a concert to raise funds for projects
in Zimbabwe and Kenya and will have another on Saturday April 5th
when the group Soul and Spirit will launch their CD. Last Thursday's
concert with Joyous Symphony raised just over £300 and we hope to do
better in April.

Please pray for the church in Zimbabwe and our friends in Chinhoyi.
God Bless
Richard
